Comets Roll Over McMurry, 72-47, To Snap Losing Skid

ABILENE, TX (01.09.16) - Sophomore Noah Hill scored a season-high 25 points as the UT Dallas men's basketball avoided a third-straight loss with a 72-47 road victory over McMurry Saturday afternoon.

Hill went 6-for-8 against the WarHawks as he topped the 20-point mark for the second time in four games. As a team, the Comets (now 8-3) finished the afternoon 12-of-30 (40%) from three-point range and overcame 18 turnovers for their largest margin of victory of the season.

UTD opened the game with a three-pointer from Caleb Banks and never looked back as the Comets shot 45% (27-of-60) as they led McMurry wire-to-wire in the victory. UTD led the WarHawks by as 13 points in the opening half on two occasions before taking a 31-25 lead into the locker room.

The Comets regained their double-digit lead with 13:36 left in the second half as Hill drained a trey to lift UTD to a 44-32 advatnage. Hill would later give the Comets their first 20-point lead of the afternoon with 9:19 left after a steal and a breakaway lay up, extending UTD cushion to 56-35. UTD shot were 7-of-16 (43.8%) from three-point range as a team in teh second half to pull away with the 25-point victory.

Hill was 9-of-13 from the field as he was the lone Comet to reach double-figure scoring. He added four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Kyle Coulter finished with nine points, nine rebounds and a team-high five assists while Banks, Jon Hatcher and Dapo Ogunfeitmi each added eight points.

For McMurry (now 2-13), Nate Estrada finished with a team-high 14 points. The WarHawks shot just 26.4 percent (14-of-53) from the field, hitting just 6-of-22 (27.3%) from three-point range, and were 13-of-19 (68.4%) from the free-throw line.

UTD will look for two in a row Thursday night as the Comets host rival Texas-Tyler. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
