MARSHALL, TX (10.18.16) - Just hours after earning its highest-ever national ranking, the No. 8-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team collected its 15th consecutive victory with a 3-0 road win at East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets (now 20-1, 11-0 ASC) secured its 11th consecutive 20-win season with their 25-19, 25-20, 25-17, win over ETBU, earning their 29th straight ASC regular-season match in the process.
Freshman
Dylan Brinkman, who was named the ASC East's Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, led the Comets with a match-high 15 kills along with 11 digs and a .225 hitting percentage for the Comets.
Abbie Barth added nine kills and a match-best 17 digs while
Michelle Toro finished with eight kills and three blocks.
UTD ended the match hitting .239 as a team, compared to just .066 by the host Tigers, as the Comets rolled off their eighth straight sweep. The Comets out-blocked ETBU, 7-2, and finished with two aces.
The Comets return to action this weekend for their biggest test of the year as they will face a pair of top 20 teams at the Active Ankle Volleyball Invite, hosted by Washington-St. Louis. UTD kicks off the tournament Friday at 4 p.m. against Bowdoin before squaring off with No. 17-ranked tournament host at 8 p.m. that evening before meeting No. 3-ranked Wittenberg at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
