SAN ANTONIO, TX (11.12.16) - The 2016 season for the UT Dallas men's soccer team came to an end Saturday night in the opening round of the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament with a 1-0 loss to Chapman University (CA).

The Comets, who ended the 2016 campaign with a 13-5-2 overall record, advanced to the national tournament for the third consecutive season, becoming just the second UTD program to accomplish such a feat. The Comet men's basketball qualified for 2009, 2010 and 2011 national tournaments.

Chapman scored the only goal of the game in the 8th minute when Elliot Braund tallied on a rebounded shot by teammate Marco Saglimbeni, which was saved by Comet keeper Joseph Weber. CU's Zev Gollis was also credited with an assist on the goal from his corner kick.

UTD had a chance in the 64th minute to score the equalizer with a Isaac Urcuyo penalty kick. However, Panther keeper Sean Augustine made a brilliant save to keep the lead. The Comets took just 11 shots in the game with Urcuyo's penalty kick registering as UTD's only shot on frame. Weber ended the night with four saves.

Chapman finished with 15 shots, five on goal.
