GREENCASTLE, IN (11.19.16) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team shot nearly 50 percent from the field as the Comets earned a 71-48 win over Birmingham-Southern Saturday afternoon to wrap up the DePauw Tipoff Tournament.
The Comets (2-1) will return to action Wednesday with a 6 p.m. non-conference road game at Trinity in San Antonio.

Micaela Gonzalez scored a team-high 16 points leading three Comets in double figures as UTD hit 24-of-49 shots (49%) from the floor against the Panthers. Gonzalez finished the game 6-of-8 from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line while adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Kayla Reinhart finished with 13 points while
Alyssa Crockett, the Comets' leading scoring in their opening two games, added 11 points and a game-high five assists.
The Comets opened the game with a three-pointer from Crockett and never looked back as UTD did not trail the Panthers throughout the four quarters. UTD grabbed its first double-digit lead late in the second frame before taking a 37-25 lead into the locker room. The Comets outscored BSC, 16-9, in the third to extend their lead to 19 points, 53-34, heading into the final 10 minutes. UTD's first 20-point lead, 56-36, came with 7:52 remaining to play on a Gonzalez lay up. The Comets led by as many as 25 points in the final period before settling for the 23-point win.
