RICHARDSON, TX (09.03.16) - The UT Dallas volleyball team easily handled regional foe Texas Lutheran, 3-0, Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 to open the 2016 season. The Comets rolled to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-19, victory over the Bulldogs.

Michelle Toro finished with a match 12 kills while hitting .333 as the Comets ended the contest hitting .175 as a team. In comparison, visiting TLU (now 2-2) was limited to a mere .008 team hitting percentage.
The Bulldogs looked be heading to a 1-0 lead after maintaining early control of the match. However, the Comets ended the opening stanza on a 9-1 run, including a run of seven straight points late in the set, to earn the 25-20 win. UTD then used its momentum to start the second set, grabbing a quick 6-0 lead, forcing a quick Bulldog timeout. After holding off TLU for a 25-17 win in the second set, the Comets cruised to the sweep thanks to a .208 hitting percentage in the clinching set.
Holyn Handley finished with 10 kills while
Dylan Brinkman had nine kills. Setter
Caroline Shecterle dished out 33 assists (11.0 per set) while libero Briana Tulley collected a match-best 18 digs.
The Comets will travel to Colorado Springs next weekend for four matches at the Colorado College Invitational.
