CHICAGO, ILL (09.04.16) - After opening the season with narrow losses to a pair of nationally-ranked teams, the UT Dallas men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 whitewash of Illinois Tech.
UTD (1-2-0) got goals from a pair of newcomers as well as the first career collegiate goal from sophomore
Hernan Ramos to pave the way for the first win of the year. The Scarlet Hawks fell to 0-2 on the season.

Brad Rivenes gave the Comets an early lead, scoring off a set play following a foul just 4:14 into the match.
Kevin Whatley picked up the assist. At the 39:48 mark, junior transfer
Jude Anuwe scored from 10 yards out on the left to give UTD a 2-0 advantage at the half. Ramos then capped off the scoring with his first career college goal with just over nine minutes remaining.
UTD outshot IIT by a dominating 20-8, forcing Scarlet Hawk goalkeeper Anastasios Maniolis into nine saves. Transfer
Chase Therrien pitched the shutout in his first start in the UTD goal, and was credited with two stops.
Whatley picked up five shots, putting two on goal for UTD.
The Comets next face road games against Southwestern University Friday night in Georgetown, followed by a Saturday evening match against No. 5 Trinity in San Antonio.
