RICHARDSON, TX (01.19.17) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team started a new winning streak Thursday night with a 74-60 home win over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets (14-3, 9-1 ASC) maintained their lead in the ASC's East Division with Thursday's win and will look to make it two in a row Saturday when they host Louisiana College. Game time is 1 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.

UTD had won 12 straight games prior to Monday's home loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor and used a strong third quarter to put away the visiting Tigers Thursday night. Up 40-34 at the half, the Comets opened the second half on an 8-0 run and outscored ETBU, 21-9, in the frame to take full control of the contest. UTD took a 61-43 lead into the final quarter and would hold off a pesky Tiger squad in the final 10 minutes to earn its 13th win in 14 outings.

Freshman Victoria Pena lead the Comets with 16 points while Kayla Reinhart finished with 11 points and Alyssa Crockett added 10 points. Megan Badejo came off the bench for a game-high eight rebounds. The Comets ended the night shooting just 39.4 percent (26-of-66) from the field, but hit 8-of-21 (38.1%) three-pointers and were 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free-throw line. UTD out-rebounded the Tigers, 43-37, and forced 26 turnovers.
