Box Score 3 ABILENE, TX (10.14.17) - The No. 22-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches after claiming three victories at the second of two American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournaments, hosted by both McMurry and Hardin-Simmons.
The Comets (18-4, 12-2 ASC) have now taken a two-match lead atop the ASC East Division standings and can lock up the right host this year's league tournament with one win over their final two ASC contests. UTD returns to the floor Tuesday night as the Comets visit ASC East second-place Texas-Tyler.
MATCH 1 - UTD 3, Howard Payne 0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-20)
Freshman
Alana Geymer sparked UTD with 10 kills and a .450 hitting percentage while adding four blocks in the sweep of Howard Payne at McMurry.
Emma Wallbrown added nine kills and
Kristyn Schott, in her return to the floor after missing the last 11 matches due to injury, had seven kills.
MATCH 2 - UTD 3, Concordia Texas 1 (25-16, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21)
Despite a stumble in the third set, the Comets were able to pick up a seventh consecutive victory with a four-game win over Concordia Texas Saturday morning on the campus of McMurry.
Wallbrown and Geymer each finished with 15 kills as UTD knocked off the second place team in the ASC's West Division.
Sydney Riordan pitched in nine kills. The Comets ended the match with a .203 team hitting percentage and eight total blocks.
MATCH 3 - UTD 3, Hardin-Simmons 0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22)
The Comets closed out the weekend with a quick three-game sweep of cross-divisional foe Hardin-Simmons. Geymer again led UTD offensively with 11 kills and a .417 hitting percentage, adding a pair of blocks.
Wallbrown added eight kills while
Alex Nolan and
Lauren Schilling each finished with six kills as the COmets hit .277 as a team.
