Women's Soccer Rolls Past McMurry, 5-0

RICHARDSON, TX (10.14.17) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team ended a two-game losing skid Saturday night with a 5-0 home win over McMurry in American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets scored four goals in the second half after securing a 1-0 lead at the break en route to their sixth league shutout of the fall. Jessica Rusk scored twice while Melissa Fulfer had a goal and added two assists in the lop-sided victory.

UTD opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Stephanie White found the back of the night after a entry pass from the right by teammate Melissa Fulfer. However, the Comets would not add to their lead in the half, despite outshooting McMurry, 16-3, before the break.

The Comets' second goal came quickly in the second half, however, as Fulfer doubled the lead in the 48th minute with her team-leading 10th tally of the season, assisted by Jacquie Kaufman. Jessica Rusk then added her first of two goals on the night in the 53rd minute, assisted by Keely Fillman. Fillman scored just more than two minutes later in the 55th minute, assisted by Fulfer, and Rusk ended the scoring in the 70th minute, assisted by Maya Fuller.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Comets finished the night with a 29-6 shot advantage over McMurry, ending with just seven shots on frame. UTD held the War Hawks to just one shot on goal in the contest, the seventh time this season the Comets have limited a foe to one or less shots on target.

Fulfer leads the Comets with 10 goals and now has 10 assists on the season as well. As just a junior, Fulfer now has 28 career assists, one shy of the UTD all-time mark. Theresa Buckles (2003-06) set the mark of 29 assists and was later tied by Leah Bowyer (2008-11). Fulfer has also moved into a tie for seventh all-time at UTD with 25 goals scored and ranks fifth in career points (78).

Rusk recorded her third career-multi goal game and became the sixth Comet this season to tally twice in a contest.
