Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO, TX (10.28.17) - The UT Dallas volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon with a pair of 3-0 wins on the final day of the Trinity Invitational.
The Comets (21-9) secured its 12th straight 20-win season with their first win of the day, a sweep of winless Schreiner, and then capped the weekend with a 3-0 win over Texas Lutheran. UTD will host the 2017 American Southwest Conference Tournament, Nov. 2-4, and will open the event at 7:30 p.m. Thursday after a first-round bye.
MATCH 1 - UTD 3, Schreiner 0 (25-18, 25-6, 25-18)
The Comets needed little time to pick up their first win of the day in a 25-18, 25-6, 25-18, victory over Schreiner.
Sydney Riordan collected a match-high 11 kills while
Emma Wallbrown had 10 kills for UTD as the Comets hit the 20-win mark for the 12th consecutive campaign. Setter
Caroline Shecterle finished with 24 assists (8.0 per set). UTD hit .330 as a squad and averaged 16.7 digs per set in the quick 3-0 victory.
MATCH 2 - UTD 3, Texas Lutheran 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-20)
UTD made quick work of Texas Lutheran with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-20, victory in the Comets' regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.
Riordan again led the Comets, finishing the sweep of TLU with 13 kills and a .370 hitting percentage. Wallbrown and
Alana Geymer each added eight kills in the quick three-set win. Shecterle had 21 asssits (7.0 per set) while libero
Briana Tully had a match-high 10 digs.
