RICHARDSON, TX (10.28.17) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team tied a school record with its 15th regular-season victory Saturday night as the Comets closed out the regular season with a 1-0 home win over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference.
The Comets are 15-3 heading into next weeks' ASC Tournament, finishing third league standings at 10-2. UTD will open the 2017 ASC Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at home when they host sixth-seeded Sul Ross State. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
For the second straight game, the Comets needed a late goal to secure the home win as freshman
Nique Enloe found the back of the net when she beat ETBU keeper Claire Montondon one-on-one in the 84th minute after a pass down the middle from teammate
Stephanie White. The goal was Enloe's sixth of the season, now ranking her in a three-way for second on the squad.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Comets finished the night with 24 shots, nine on frame, compared to nine by ETBU. The Tigers ended the contest with just three shots on frame. ETBU came into the game riding a seven-game winning streak.
UTD recorded its fifth consecutive shutout, the longest by the program since late in the 2012 season. The Comets' record for consecutive shutouts in eight, set in 2006.
The Comets' 10 ASC victories is the most since 2011.
KEY PERFORMERS
Melissa Fulfer led the team with six shots, two on goal, while
Jessica Rusk and Michelle each took four shots. Junior keeper
Monica Dallacasa made three saves in her eighth shutout of the season.
