BELTON, TX (11.04.17) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team had its season come to a close Saturday afternoon as the Comets dropped a 1-0 decision to Texas-Tyler in the semifinal round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Comets wrapped up the campaign with a 11-6-2 overall record and entered this year's ASC Tournament as the No. 3 seed after posting a 7-3-1 league mark. UTT (11-2-3) moves on to the ASC title game Sunday at 1 p.m. against host UMHB.
The lone goal of the contest game in the 40th minute when UTT's Akon N'Guetta netted his third tally of the season, thanks to an assist by teammate Steven Soriano. N'Guetta took the pass down the middle from Soriano and chipped UTD keeper
John Nicknish for the game-winner.
The Comets managed just four shots on the game, a new season low, and had three shots on goal in the game.
Alfredo Kaegi led UTD with two shots, both on frame.Nicknish made one save.
UTD held the Patriots to just seven total shots and only two shots on frame. UTT starting keeper John McGuffin did not record a save before making a early exit in the 34th minute. Backup Giancarlo Ayanegui made three saves in relief and earned the victory.
