RICHARDSON, TX (09.10.17) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team was handed its first loss of the season Sunday night as the Comets dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Willamette University in non-conference play at the UTD Soccer Field.
After a defensive struggle over the opening 45 minutes, the Comets finally got on the scoreboard in the 64th minute when freshman
Maya Fuller found the back of the net after a cross from the right from teammate
Jacquie Kaufman. However, Willamette's Emmy Manset tallied the equalizer with just over five minutes left in the second half to force the extra period.
Kaufman had a chance to end the game in regulation as she found herself behind the Bearcat defensive line with just seconds on the clock, but her shot drilled off the right post, sending the game to overtime. Manset ended the game 4:45 into the first extra frame with a shot right in front of the frame after a Willamette free kick from the right side.
With the win, Willamette improved to 3-0-1 on the young season.
