RICHARDSON, TX (09.21.17) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team picked up its second straight blowout victory Thursday night as the Comets cruised to 10-0 home win over Belhaven in UTD's American Southwest Conference home opener.
Freshman
Nique Enloe recorded the Comets' first hat trick in three seasons as she finished with three of UTD's 10 tallies on the night. Enloe scored twice late in the first period within a span of 66 seconds and added her final goal with just more than 11 minutes left in the second half. The Comets would score six goals in the opening frame and added four more scores in the final 45 minutes as they recorded their largest margin of victory since the 2015 season.
Freshman
Keely Fillman opened the scoring in the ninth minute and then made the lead 2-0 in the 14th minute with her second tally of the night.
Michelle Lee then added her second goal in three games 13 seconds later, tying the ASC record for quickest consecutive goals, to lift the Comets to a quick 3-0 advantage.
Bailee Davis got in the action in the 38th minute before Enloe scored in the 44th minute and 45th minute.
The Comets extended their lead to 7-0 in the 67th minute thanks to a Belhaven own goal and then picked up second-half tallies from
Jala Tousant in the 74th minute, Enloe in the 79th minute and
Maya Fuller in the 80th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Comets out-shot Belhaven, 36-1, finishing the night with a season-high 21 shots on goal. The 36 total shots were a season best as well. The 10-goal margin of victory is the largest since a 10-0 home win over McMurry on Oct. 1, 2015. The game marked the 16th time in program history the Comets had scored 10 or more goals in a single contest.Â
UTD's second and third goals came within a 16-second span, three seconds shy of the ASC record for consecutive goals by the same team.
The Comets opened the season with eight goals in their first five contest. After Saturday's 6-0 win over Ozarks and tonight's 10-0 victory, UTD has now scored 16 goals in the last 180 minutes of action. UTD had 13 players record a shot against the Blazers and nine different players with a shot on goal.
KEY PLAYERS:
Enloe finished the game with a team-high six shots, four on frame, and recording the first UTD hat trick since Carli Beckett had three goals against Principia on Aug. 29, 2014. Lee added five shots, two on goal, while Fuller took four shots. Tousant finished with two assists as seven UTD players assisted on goals.
Junior goalkeeper
Monica Dallacasa played a scoreless opening half, not facing a single shot. Freshman
Christa Morovitz took over at halftime and faced just one shot, not on frame.
