Comet Women Keep Rolling With 4-1 Road Win at Austin College

SHERMAN, TX (09.27.17) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team picked up its fifth consecutive victory Wednesday night as the Comets downed Austin College, 4-1, in non-conference play.

The Comets scored three times in the opening half and added an insurance goal early in the second period to secure a 4-0 lead before host Austin College scored in the 58th minute to prevent UTD from recording a fifth straight shutout.

Melissa Fulfer tallied early in the game, opening the scoring in the 15th minute after an assist from Keely Fillman. Michelle Lee doubled the Comets' lead in the 25th minute with her first of two goals on the night, assisted Fillman, and Jessica Rusk lifted UTD to a 3-0 halftime advantage in the 28th minute, assisted by Lee.

Lee's second goal of the night came in the 54th minute, assisted by Kaufman, giving UTD a four-goal cushion. AC's goal came on the Kangaroos' only shot on target of the night when Karolina Cruz scored an unassisted goal in the 56th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Comets finished the night with 35 shots, compared to just three shots by AC, and have taken at least 35 shots in each of the past three outings. After three games without allowing a shot on goal, the Comets gave up one such shot Wednesday night and have now allowed just four shots on goal over the past four five contests. UTD has out-shot its last four opponents, 138-5.

Melissa Fulfer tallied her team-leading seventh goal in just the ninth game of the season. Fulfer now has 22 career goals, moving into a tie for 11th on the Comets' all-time list. Fulfer also ranks fourth all-time in assists (24) and eighth (68) in points as just a junior.

KEY PLAYERS:
Lee led the squad with six shots while Bailee Davis took five shots. Alyssa Kolvitz finished with four shots. Lee took a team-high four shots on goal.

UTD goalkeeper Monica Dallacasa played a scoreless opening half for the Comets and has not allowed a goal over the past 270 minutes.

The Comets (8-1) return to American Southwest Conference play Saturday when they host Howard Payne. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
