Comets Still Share ASC Lead After 1-0 Home Win Over UMHB

RICHARDSON, TX (10.04.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team earned its 11th straight win and remained one of the American Southwest Conference co-leaders Thursday night thanks to a Keely Fillman blast in the 88th minute that sent the undefeated Comets past Mary Hardin-Baylor, 1-0, in a key conference game.

Fillman, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., accepted a pass from teammate Sofia Munoz, froze UMHB keeper Emmy McMaude and rocketed a diagonal shot to the far netting with 2:27 remaining in regulation to propel the Comets to their 10th shutout victory of the season. The Comets (11-0, 5-0 ASC) remain one of two unbeaten teams in ASC play this fall, now alone with No. 8-ranked Hardin-Simmons (8-1, 5-0 ASC) after the Cowgirls' road win over Louisiana College tonight. UTD and HSU will meet up next Saturday, Oct. 13, in Abilene with possibly the right to host the ASC Tournament on the line.

The Comets dominated the game offensively, out-shooting UMHB, 18-7, but managed just four shots on frame, compared to three by the visiting Cru. Fillman led the Comets with four shots, two on goal, while starters Jacquie Kaufman and Jessica Rusk as well as reserves Ashlyn Sims and Michelle Lee each taking two shots. UTD keeper Monica Dallacasa made three saves in her ninth shutout of the season.

UTD returns to action Saturday night when the Comets host Concordia Texas in another ASC home game. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
