Comet Women Match Record Win Streak With Shutout of CTX

RICHARDSON, TX (10.06.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team equaled a program record with their 12th consecutive victory Saturday night as the Comets blanked Concordia Texas, 1-0, in American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets improved to 12-0 on the season and recorded their ninth straight shutout as sophomore Jala Tousant netted the only goal of the contest midway through the opening half. UTD improved to 6-0 in ASC play with Saturday's win, remaining in a tie for first place in the league standings with No. 8 Hardin-Simmons.

UTD finished the win with 28 shots, compared to just eight by the visiting Tornados, while the Comets out-dueled CTX in shots on goal, 11-2. Jacquie Kaufman led the Comets with five shots, two on frame, while Melissa Fulfer added four shots, three on target.

Tousant's game-winner came in the 23rd minute when she accepted a pass from Fulfer and broke past the CTX back line. Tousant's first shot was saved by Tornado keeper Shelby Franco, but the Comet forward put the rebound in the back of the net for her fourth tally of the season.

Comet keeper Monica Dallacasa made two saves in her eight shutout of the season. As a team, UTD has now shutout 11 of 12 opponents, leading NCAA Division III with a 0.08 goals against average.

UTD returns to action Thursday, Oct. 11, with the Comets facing McMurry in their first of two road games in Abilene. The Comets will then square off with HSU on Saturday, Oct. 13.
