CONWAY, AR (02.18.18) - The No. 22 UT Dallas baseball team evened its early-season record to 4-4 after a 14-4, eight-inning victory over Washington-St. Louis to wrap up the Comets' three-game weekend trip in Arkansas.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, the Comets handed starter Cole Hansen the lead for good with three runs on two hits and a pair of Bear errors. After a inning-opening triple by
Luke Richter,
Dylan Palmer tied the game with a sac fly to left. The Comets then took the lead on an RBI fielder's choice by
Norman Cordova added a a third run when Cordova stole third and came home with a WashU error.
The Comets then added six run sin the 6th and another run in the 7th to open the contest. After giving back three runs in the top of the 8th, UTD completed the run-rule victory with a four-run bottom of the frame, capped by a sac fly by
Jarrod Beggiani.
Hanson (1-0) was on a roll before giving up three runs runs in the 8th. Hanson finished with six strikeouts and just three hits in 7.1 innings of work.
Rodney Corbin led the Comets with a 3-for-4 performance with two RBI while seven other Comets each added hits. Cordova and
Garrett Uhl each finished with two RBI.
The Comets return to action with a three-game home series against Belhaven to open American Southwest Conference next weekend.
