RICHARDSON, TX (02.25.18) - After more than three weeks since its spring opener, the UT Dallas men's tennis team returned to the courts Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 non-conference home loss to Millsaps.

The Comets (1-1) fell behind after doubles play, 2- 1, and were able to pick up two singles contests in the defeat.

UTD's Mario Jelev and Giovanni Zambroni earned the squad's only double win, handling Cooper/Cearley/Josh Shearin at No. 3. Ashwin Vaithianathan opened singles action with a 6-1, 6-3, win over Millsaps' Shearin at No. 4 singles to even the match, but the Comets would drop the next four singles decisions. With the match decided, UTD's Ryan Morton earned a three-set win over Jacob Niehaus at No. 6.

The Comets return to action next Sunday with a non-conference road match at Austin College.
