Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Comet Men Win Sixth Straight With 98-78 Victory At Belhaven

JACKSON, MS (02.03.18) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team extended its season-long winning streak to six games Saturday afternoon after a 98-78 road win at Belhaven in American Southwest Conference East Division play.

Sophomore guard Dimitrius Underwood recorded his second 'triple-double' of the season, becoming the second ASC men's player to record multiple such performances in a career. Underwood finished the outing with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, all game highs, as he notched just the 14th 'triple-double" in league history and third all-time for the Comets.

The Comets led host Belhaven wire-to-wire en route to their 15th victory of the season. UTD shot better than 60 percent from the field for the third time this season and just missed out of the squad's school record fourth 100-point output of the season.

UTD secured a double-digit lead with 8:06 left in the opening half after a Kelden Pruitt lay up pushed the Comets to a 29-19 advantage. The Comets would hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the period before taking a 43-35 lead at the half. UTD led by no fewer than nine points in the second half and led by as many as 23 points on multiple occasions late in the contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Comets hit 37-of-60 shots (61.7%) from the floor as a team, connecting on 6-of-15 three-pointers (40%), and shot 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the foul line.

UTD more than doubled the Blazers in rebounding, 37-18, and forced 15 BU turnovers, scoring 17 points off those Blazer giveaways. The Comets outscored BU in the paint, 56-18.

Underwood led six Comets in double digits in the squad's sixth 20-point win of the season. Fellow starters Pruitt finished with 16 points, Caleb Banks had 14 points and Reagan Keogh added 13 points. Michael Forster and Hans Burwitz came off the bench for 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
