CLARKSVILLE, AR (03.24.18) - The UT Dallas softball team had its three-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 7-6 road loss to Ozarks, closing out a three-game American Southwest Conference series.
Down 2-0 in the top of the 4th,
Kendra Litchfield evened the contest with a two-run homer, her first of the season. However, the host Eagles answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to retake a 6-2 advantage.
In the top of the 5th, the Comets pushed two runs across the plate as
Stefanie Polderman and
Lauryn Manning each picked up RBIs in the frame. But, against Ozarks answered with a single run in the bottom half, securing a 7-4 lead.
UTD drew back within two runs in the top of the 6th on a Elizabeth Bran RBI infield single. The Comets would then put runners on second and third in the top of the 7th and plate a run on
Hope Griffith sac fly, scoring
Amber Williams, but could not bring home the game-tying run.
Williams led the Comets by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored while no other UTD player had a multi-hit performance.
Allie Stephens (2-4) suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings of work. She struck out two while walking three.
Karen Crane, who had a win and a save against the Eagles in Friday's doubleheader, tossed a scoreless 6th with a strikeout.

The Comets (9-11, 7-5 ASC) will take a short break from ASC play Monday with a 3 p.m. home doubleheader with Mount St. Mary (NY).
