JACKSON, MS (04.11.18) - The UT Dallas softball team closed out its three-game American Southwest Conference series at Belhaven Wednesday afternoon with an 11-2, five-inning defeat.
The Comets opened the scoring in the top of the 1st with an RBI single up the middle by
Samantha Halliburton, scoring
Ravin Wilson, but Belhaven answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and never relinquished the lead. UTD drew within a run in the top of the 2nd when
Kynsee Gesch plated
Stefanie Polderman with a groundout, but again the Blazers responded with three more runs in the bottom half of the inning and tacked one five more runs in the 3rd to pull away.
UTD starter
Karen Crane (11-5) suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on seven hits in 2.0 innings. Halliburton finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
NEXT GAME
The Comets (19-12, 15-6 ASC) return to action this weekend with a three-game home series with No. 3-ranked Texas-Tyler. The two teams will play a 6 p.m. doubleheader Saturday before wrapping up the set with a 1 p.m. single game Sunday at the UTD Softball Field.
