ABILENE, TX (04.07.18) - The UT Dallas softball team used an 11-0, five-inning victory Saturday afternoon to close out a sweep of a three-game American Southwest Conference series with the Cowgirls.
Allie Stephens (6-4) recorded her second straight shutout as she scattered four hits with four strikeouts in Saturday's series finale. The Comets answered supplied 11 runs on 14 hits off of two HSU pitchers as UTD had four players with multi-hit performances.
The Comets took little time to control the contest, plating six runs on seven hits and a pair of HSU errors in the top of the 1st.
Melissa Livermore opened the game with a bunt single and quickly stole second base. After the first of HSU's two errors in the innings, the Comets secured runners at the corners, setting up a double steal that allowed Livermore to come home for the first run of the game. Livermore's run scored was her 130th of career, matching the UTD mark set by former Comet Amber Griffin (2005-08).
UTD would finish with six stolen bases as a team in the 1st inning and ended the game with a school-record tying nine steals in the contest.
