RICHARDSON, TX (08.31.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team picked up a goal in each half as the Comets earned a 2-0 home win over Hiram College Friday night in the season opener for both programs.
The Comets (1-0) tallied 46 shots on the night, 20 of which were on frame, with 11 players recording at least one shot in the victory. Hiram goalkeeper Ally Green was kept busy all night as she had to make 18 saves, 12 in the opening half alone, to keep the visiting Terriers (0-1) in the contest.
UTD returns to the pitch Sunday when they host Alfred University at 6 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Jessica Rusk celebrated her birthday with the Comets' first goal of the season as she tallied from in front of the net in the 4th minute, thanks to a short cross from the right by teammate Melissa Fulfer. The assist was Fufler's 32nd of her four-year with UTD, extending her own program career record.
- Freshman Sofia Munoz added an insurance goal in the 87th minute after a run by teammate Jacquie Kaufman.
- Senior goalkeeper Monica Dallacasa made two saves, both in the second half when the Terriers were looking to find their equalizer.
