RICHARDSON, TX (09.02.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team posted a shutout for the second straight game to start the season as the Comets rolled to a 3-0 home win over Alfred University Sunday night.

The Comets (2-0) will continue their six-game home stand to open the new year Friday night when they host Redlands at 7 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.

UTD outshot the visiting Saxons, 19-4, and finished the night with six shots on goal from six different players. The Comets tallied twice in the opening half, including the first goal within the first five minutes, and added an insurance goal midway through the second period.

The Comet defense had another strong performance, allowing just one shot on goal, as keeper Monica Dallacasa had to make just one save to collect her second shutout of the young season. The Saxons did not take a shot in the opening half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Comets opened the scoring at the 4:59 mark when Keely Fillman raced down the left side of the field, cross to teammate Bailee Davis and Davis put the ball away past AU keeper Makenzie Cashmer.
• Melissa Fulfer added a second goal for the Comets in the 35th minute when she accepted a pass from the right from Jala Tousant and found the back of the net.
• Tousant got her first goal of the season in the 69th minute thanks to cross from the right by Jacquie Kaufman.
