RICHARDSON, TX (09.13.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team is 5-0 for the first time in program history after the Comets kicked off American Southwest Conference play Thursday night with a 2-0 home win over Ozarks at the UTD Soccer Field.

The Comets (5-0, 1-0 ASC) out-shot visiting Ozarks, 29-2, finishing with 12 shots on goal from 10 different players. In comparison, the Eagles managed just one shot on frame, which was saved by UTD keeper Monica Dallacasa with under 10 minutes left to play in the contest. 

Melissa Fulfer led the Comets with six shots, three on goal, while Jacquie Kaufman had five shots.

UTD will look to extend their season-opening winning streak to six matches Saturday night when the Comets host rival Texas-Tyler at 5 p.m. After the contest, UTD will recognized its senior class as part of Senior Day festivities.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Second-year freshman Ziomek tallied her first collegiate goal in the 36th minute as he placed a diving header past Eagle keeper Kiara Henry after a corner kick by teammate Sarah Puga.
• The Comets added an insurance goal in the 60th minute on a penalty kick by Stephanie White, her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Kaufman was taken down in the right side of the penalty box to set up the free kick from the spot.
