JACKSON, MS (09.22.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team added to its historic start to a season Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 road win over Belhaven in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets improved to 9-0 with the victory and 3-0 in ASC play, getting three goals in each half against the Blazers. UTD finished with 22 shots, 13 on frame, while holding the Blazers to just seven shots, four on goal.
Jessica Rusk scored twice, once in each half, as she was one of five Comets to find the back of the net. UTD has now shutout eight of its nine opponents this fall, allowing just one goal on the season.
UTD will look for a 10th straight win to start the season next Saturday when they play a fourth straight road game, this time at Howard Payne in Brownwood. Game time is 2 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rusk scored her first goal of the contest in the 7th minute thanks to an assist from Bailee Davis.
- Jacquie Kaufman picked up her first tally of the season, unassisted, in the 17th minute.
- Sofia Munoz scored her fourth goal in two games in the 18th minute, assisted by Haley Ziomek, to lift UTD to 3-0 halftime lead.
- Rusk added second goal in the 58th minute, assisted by Meliss Fulfer.
- Keely Fillman added a goal in the 62nd minute off a corner kick by Fulfer
- Jala Tousant finished the scoring in the 65th minute, unassited.
