RICHARDSON, TX (10.03.19) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team was handed its third overtime loss of the season Thursday night as the Comets dropped a 3-2 home decision to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the squad's American Southwest Conference home opener.
The Comets (now 7-3-1, 1-1-1 ASC) extended the contest with a goal by
Zach Till in the 90th minute, but visiting UMHB (5-3-1, 2-1 ASC) ended the game just 2:06 into the first overtime period to steal the three points in the ASC standings. UTD will look to bounce back Saturday night when the Comets host Concordia Texas. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
UTD would take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute thanks to a Cru own goal as a UMHB defender redirected an entry pass from Comet
Gage Ott. The Cru goalkeeper was thrown off the redirect as the ball rolled into the net. The one-goal advantage would hold through halftime before UMHB scored twice just over three minutes apart to snag a 2-1 lead by the 68th minute.
Down several offensive weapons late in the contest, Till would tally his first goal of the season with just 46 seconds left in regulation off a header of an
Adrian Vasquez cross from the left.
The Comets took 14 shots in the loss, managing just four shots on frame, with
Micah Ardila and Olivery Hamby leading the way with three shots each. UMHB took 12 shots, six on target, while Comet keeper
John Nicknish made three saves.
