RICHARDSON, TX (11.05.19) - The No. 24-ranked UT Dallas men's soccer team battled thick fog as the top-seeded Comets downed LeTourneau, 2-0, Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.

The Comets (now 15-3-2) will host the ASC's "Final Four" this weekend and will return to the pitch at 11 a.m. Friday when they host No. 5-seeded Ozarks in the semifinals. Second-seeded Concordia Texas will face No. 3-seed Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second semifinal at 2 p.m. The ASC title game is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.

Mason Anderson sparked the Comets with a header off a
Micah Ardila corner kick just 89 seconds in to the contest. The tally was the central defender's fifth of the season while Ardila collected his fourth assist of the fall. UTD held tight to a one-goal lead for the majority of the night as the heavy fog began to lift late in the second half. Senior
Alfredo Kaegi would later add an insurance goal in the 84th minute with a bender past LETU keeper Austin Dunegan, thanks to an assist from sophomore
Jovi Munoz. The tally was Kaegi's 10th of the season while Munoz picked up his third assist of the year.
The Comets dominated possession in the victory, holding the ball for 69 percent of the contest. UTD finished with 22 shots on the night, nine on frame, while taking nine corner kicks. Kaegi ledthe offense with five shots of his own, three on target, while Munoz and
Brandon Bohn each took three shots. Comet keeper
John Nicknish made seven saves in his ASC-leading ninth shutout of the season, one shy of the program record for clean sheets in a campaign.
