BROWNWOOD, TX (09.26.19) - Senior
Alfredo Kaegi scored early in the opening half as the UT Dallas men's soccer team open American Southwest Conference play with a 1-0 road win over Howard Payne Thursday afternoon.
Kaegi's game-winner came in the 15th minute and would be all the offense the Comets would need in their conference-opening victory. UTD defense continues to prove to be one of the best units in the league, holding the host Yellow Jackets to just four shots, only one of which was on frame, in the win.
The Comets (7-2, 1-0) finished the shutout with 18 total shots, five on target, with Kaegi leading the pack with seven shots.
Mason Anderson took three shots and
Jovi Munoz took two shots. UTD keeper
John Nicknish made one save.
UTD continues conference play Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Sul Ross State in Alpine.
