RICHARDSON, TX (09.06.19) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team collected its second straight lop-sided victory Friday night as the Comets downed Johnson & Wales, 4-1, in the squad's 2019 home opener at the UTD Soccer Field.
The Comets (now 2-0-1) return to action Saturday night against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
Sophomore
Jovi Munoz opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a penalty kick, lifting the Comets to an early 1-0 lead. Munoz created his own opportunity to score as he was taken down in the box by a pair of JWU defensemen.
Leading 1-0 at the break, the Comets added a second goal in the 50th minute by
Jesse Ardila, assisted by a cross from the left by teammate
Brad Rivenes. The Wildcats countered with a penalty kick of their own in the 78th minute, sparking the Comet offense to response two more late tallies.
Mason Anderson got in the action in the 80th minute before
Jardel Kuate capped the scoring in the 84th minute.
The Comets closed the victory with 14 shots, six of which were on goal, compared to just four by visiting JWU.
