RICHARDSON, TX (01.16.20) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team drained a season-high 12 three-pointers as the Comets cruised to an 86-55 home win over Louisiana College Thursday night in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
Comets improve their record to 11-4 overall (5-1 in ASC play) in an all-around impressive night, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and forcing 22 turnovers. UTD will return to action Saturday afternoon when the Comets host Belhaven at the Activity Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
UTD jumped out to their first double-digit lead midway through the opening period after a
Victoria Pena basket pushed the Comets to an early 16-6 advantage. The margin continued to increase for the remainder of the half, thanks to a dominant second quarter. The Comets were 11-for-17 (64.7%) as a team in the second period to extend their lead to 53-30 at the break. UTD did not let up in the third, holding the Wildcats to just 2-for-11 accuracy (18%) for the quarter, extending the lead to 30 points prior to the final stanza.

The Comets were led in scoring by
Katie Gunther with 14 points, going 5-for-5, while
Natalie Miller added a season high 13 points along with a team-high seven rebounds. Pena finished with 12 points and a game-high seven assists while
Kelley Skinner rounded out the Comets in double digits with 10 points. For the game, UTD was 30-of-65 (46.2%) form the floor, hitting 12-of-30 three-pointers, and were an efficient 14-of-16 (87.5%) from the foul line.
