SHERMAN, TX (03.07.20) - After dropping two doubles contests, the UT Dallas men's team would take four of six singles contests en route to a 5-4 non-conference road win over Austin College Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (now 4-2) will return to action Friday with a 3 p.m. home match with The Citadel at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The tandem of
John Edwards and
Mythreyan Ganesh was the only Comet duo to find success in doubles play as the twosome rolled to an 8-3 win over AC's Brett O'Brien/Preston Spivey. UTD's No. 1 and No. 3 teams both dropped 8-4 decisions.
The Comets evened the match with a 6-1, 6-2, win by Edwards at No. 4 singles, and then took the lead with a straight-set win by
Ritvik Ganesan (6-2, 6-3) at No. 3.
Giovanni Zamboni then collected a 6-2, 6-3, win at No. 1 over O'Brien before the host 'Roos (1-4) claimed a win at No. 2 single to draw back to 4-3.
Jed De Luna would clinch the match for the Comets as he downed AC's Siddharth Kortikere, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
