LONGVIEW, TX (10.14.21) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team rolled off its second straight conference win Thursday afternoon with a 2-0 ASC road victory over LeTourneau.
The Comets (8-3-3, 4-1-2 ASC) maintain their hold on the No. 4 seed in the ASC standings after the squad's sixth shutout of the fall and have just three games left in the regular season. UTD returns to action Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when the Comets visit East Texas Baptist for a chance to potentially lock down a spot in a 12th straight ASC Tournament, with a win over the host Tigers.
After a scoreless opening half,
Brandon Buchanan gave the Comets a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute with his fourth goal of the season, assisted by
Kane Kidwell. RIley O'Donnell later added his ASC-leading 11th tally of the fall in the 83rd minute, thanks to an assist from
Jardel Kuate, to give the Comets some insurance.
The Comets out-shot host LETU, 19-4, and closed the shutout with seven shots on frame along with a season-high 15 corner kicks. Kidwell led UTD with six shots, two on goal, while Buchanan,
Oliver Hamby and
Luke Deats each took two shots. Comet keeper
Trey Nickel needed to make just save in his shutout performance.
