RICHARDSON, TX (10.19.21) - The UT Dallas volleyball team needed less than 75 minutes to dispatch Belhaven Tuesday night as the Comets earned their fifth straight victory, a 3-0 home win over the Blazers in ASC play.

Making her first start of the season, Sydney Sherlock led the Comets (12-8, 10-3 ASC) with eight kills while adding seven digs and a .278 hitting percentage in the sweep. Madison Ball added seven kills while Gabi Sommerfield had six kills and a match-high three blocks.

After a very slow start in the opening set, the Comets finished the night hitting .176 as a team, collecting 11 service aces and five blocks. UTD scored its first nine points of the match without registering a kill as the two squads traded multiple services errors early in the contest. The Comets ended the first set, a 25-14 win, hitting .261 with Sommerfield leading the way with three kills. 

Sherlock then found her rhythm in the second stanza, collecting five kills, as the Comets hit just .125 in a 25-12 win over BU. Ball took over in the third with four kills, and four of her team-high nine digs, as UTD closed the sweep with a 25-21 win, hitting .158 in the set.

UTD used three setters in the match with Izzy Sundquist and Emma Sevening each finishing the night with 13 assists.

The Comets return to action this weekend with two key ASC road matches. UTD will next face No. 8-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6 p.m. Friday in Belton before squaring off with Concordia Texas at 12 p.m. Saturday in Austin.
