RICHARDSON, TX (10.09.21) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team posted four goals for the fifth time this season, leading to a 4-1 ASC home win over McMurry Saturday night.
The Comets (now 7-3-3, 3-1-2 ASC) climbed up to fourth in the ASC standings after Saturday's lop-sided victory with just four games left to play in the regular season. UTD will return to action Thursday night with a 7:30 p.m. road match at LeTourneau in Longview.
UTD opened the scoring in the 26th minute when
Brandon Buchanan scored after a saved shot by teammate
Nahome Abraham to lift the Comets to a 1-0 advantage.
Luke Deats pushed the UTD lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute, assisted by
Kane Kidwell and
Kayson Marriott on a Comet set piece off a corner kick. The Comets them pushed the lead to 3-0 by the break with a
Josh Matthews tally in the 40th minute, assisted by Deats.
The Comets to their cushion 60th minute with a goal by
Omega Eyassu, thanks to an entry pass by
Kane Kidwell after a War Hawk foul. McMurry avoided the shutout with a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
UTD closed the night with 26 shots, 16 on frame, with Abraham leading the way with five shots of his own. Deats came off the bench for four shots, including a team-high three on target.
