RICHARDSON, TX (02.12.21) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team nearly led wire-to-wire as the Comets easily handled Belhaven, 91-55, Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets improved to 6-3 overall with Friday's lop-sided victory, but are just 4-3 in ASC play with only four games left to play this season. UTD currently sits in fifth place in the ASC East standings, but can still climb to the top of the standings over the remaining two weeks of the regular season. With Saturday's home game with Louisiana College canceled due to weather, the Comets will return to action Thursday, Feb. 18, with a road game at McMurry in Abilene, weather permitting.

Michael Forster each finished with 15 points while

The visiting Blazers (now 3-9, 2-8 ASC) scored the first bucket of the game but that would the lead they enjoyed on the afternoon as UTD quickly took control of the contest and secured a double-digit advantage, 25-14, just past the midway point of the opening half. The Comets widened their lead to as many as 23 points late in the half before settling for a 47-26 cushion at the break.
The Comets led by no less than 20 points over the final 20 minutes, extending their lead to as many as 39 points late in the contest.
UTD shot an impressive 51.5 percent from the field for the game, connecting on 11-of-29 three-pointers, and shot 71.4 percent from the foul line. The Comets out-rebounded Belhaven, 44-29, and forced 19 Blazer turnovers.
