SAN ANTONIO, TX (02.07.21) - The UT Dallas softball team is still in search of its first win of the season after dropping both parts of a non-conference doubleheader, 3-2 and 9-4, at Trinity Sunday afternoon.

The Comets (now 0-4) will look to get in the win column Monday with a single game at Mary Hardin-Baylor. Game time is 3 p.m. in Belton.

GAME 1 - Trinity 3, UTD 2
The Comets opened Sunday's twinbill at Trinity with a 3-2 loss, despite taking an early 2-0 lead over the host Tigers.

Charlie Burns gave UTD that quick cushion as she plated both
Ashley Ambrosy and
Mikayla Kanetzky with a single to left with two outs in the top of the 1st. However, the Tigers cut the lead in half with a run in the 4th and took the lead with a two-run 5th to complete the comeback.

Ambrosy led the Comets with a 2-for-4 performance from the lead-off spot while Burns finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Devyn Yanello did not factor in the decision after tossing the first 4.0 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts.

GAME 2 - Trinity 9, UTD 4
The Comets committed four errors en route to a 9-4 loss to Trinity in Sunday's second game.

The Tigers plated five runs in the bottom of the 1st, taking advantage of the first two UTD errors to snag a quick 5-0 lead. The Comets responded with two runs in the top of the 2nd on an
Avery Markley RBI single followed by a
Sarah Lewis RBI ground out.

UTD then drew within a run in the top of the 5th the Comets scored a pair of runs on an
Alexia Mullen sacrifice bunt.
Jordan Evans beat throw at the plate after Mullen's bunt to the pitcher.
Olivia Reed then came home as Mullen drew a throw at second base.

However, the Tigers plated four more runs in the bottom of the frame, using four hits and another UTD error to seal the sweep.

Markley led the Comet offense with a 3-for-3 outing with a run scored and an RBI with six other UTD batters recording a hit.
