MARSHALL, TX (03.20.21) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team recorded its third shutout in four games this spring as the Comets edged East Texas Baptist, 1-0, Saturday night in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets (now 4-0, 4-0 ASC East) remains atop the ASC East standings with just two games left in the regular season. UTD will return to the pitch Friday 7:30 p.m. at Belhaven in Jackson, Miss.
Freshman
Nahome Abraham accounted for the only goal of the contest as tallied his second goal of the spring in the 49th minute after a scoreless opening half. Abraham's goal was assisted by both teammates
Alejandro Suarez and
Jovi Munoz.
Making his second career start, UTD keeper
Trey Nickel played the full 90 minutes, making two saves in his first collegiate shutout.
Brandon Buchanan led the Comets with four shots, two on frame, while
Jardel Kuate took two shots.
The Comets finished the match with 19 shots, eight on frame, compared to just three by the host Tigers.
