BELTON, TX (03.26.21) - The UT Dallas softball team opened a three-game American Southwest Conference series at Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday night with a 10-2, six-inning road loss to the host Cru.
Avery Markley went 2-for-2 from the plate with her second home run of the season, but the Comets (now 1-14, 1-9 ASC) could not overcome giving up six unearned runs on two costly errors in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
Markley opened the scoring in the top of the 1st with an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Jordan Evans, bout the Comets would find themselves trailing 6-1 before Markley solo homer with two outs in the top of the 3rd. The Cru added two runs in the bottom of the 3rd, another in the 5th and walk-off with a game-ending RBI double with no outs in the 6th.
Ashley Ambrosy finished the game 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot, giving her at least one hit in each of the Comets' 15 games this spring.
The two teams will return to the field Saturday for an 11 a.m. doubleheader at Dee Dillon Field.
