RICHARDSON, TX (04.02.21) - The UT Dallas softball team battled with No. 5-ranked East Texas Baptist Friday afternoon before falling to the host Tigers, 5-4, on walk-off home run in the finale of a three-game American Southwest Conference road series.
The Comets (now 1-19, 1-14 ASC) plated three runs in the top of the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead on ETBU, but the Tigers knotted the game in the 4th before the late-game heroics with one out in the bottom of the 7th by Tauryn Cummings.
Down 1-0 in the 2nd, the Comets knotted the game with a sacrifice fly by

Avery Markley. The Tigers countered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to snag a 3-1 advantage.
Sarah Lewis tied the game again in the top of the third with a two-run double to center, scoring
Ashley Ambrosy and
Jordan Evans. Markely then pushed the Comets to their first lead of the series later in the 3rd with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring
Nicole Peters. However, ETBU got an RBI double by Hannah Garcia to tie the game, 4-4.
The Comets collected eight hits in the loss with Peters leading the pack with a 2-for-4 performance. Lewis was 1-for-4 with two RBI.Â
UTD returns to action Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader at Austin College. The twin bill will start at 6 p.m. in Sherman.
