LONGVIEW, TX (04.25.21) - Megan Todd blasted her team-leading fourth home run of the spring but it wasn't enough as the UT Dallas softball team suffered a 7-2 loss at LeTourneau Sunday afternoon to wrap up a three-game American Southwest Conference series.
The host YellowJackets (14-12, 13-11 ASC) plated four runs on four hits in the 3rd to take a 4-0 lead. Todd opened the Comets' half of the 5th with a solo shot to left center to trim the deficit to three runs and UTD drew within two runs in the 6th after a sacrifice fly by
Nicole Peters, scoring
Ashley Ambrosy.
However, LETUÂ tacked on three final runs in the bottom of the 6th to pull away and take the weekend series, 2-1.
Todd finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Ambrosy was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base from the lead-off spot.
The Comets (7-24, 5-19 ASC) will close out the spring next weekend with a three-game ASC home series with Ozarks. The two teams will open the set with a single game at 6 p.m. before the Comets celebrate Senior Day with a 12 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at the UTD Softball Field.
