Box Score RICHARDSON, TX (09.01.21) - The UT Dallas men's soccer used three second-half goals pull away for a 4-1 win over Austin College Wednesday in the Comets' season opener.

Josh Matthews and
Brandon Bohn each tallied twice as the Comets (1-0) celebrated their 2021 fall season and home opener with a non-conference victory over the Roos.

Matthews netted his first collegiate goal in the 13th minute of the contest, chipping the AC keeper after a cross from the left from teammate
Nahome Abraham. However, the visiting Roos countered in the 21st minute to knot the game, 1-1, at the break.

Matthews would give the Comets back the lead less than a minute into the second half as he slipped a shot between the AC keeper and a defender after a quick pass from Nahome from the right. Bohn added his first goal of the night in the 53rd minute with an unassisted screamer from 40 yards out and then pushed the Comet lead to three goals in the 69th minute with a header off an
Adrian Vasquez free kick after a Roo yellow card.

The Comets dominated the shot count in the game, 20-3, and closed the night with 13 shots on goal. Matthews,
Riley O'Donnell and
Joe Ruedi each led the squad with tree shots while Bohn and
Jardel Kuate each finished with two shots. UTD keeper
Trey Nickel did not record a save as the Comet back line allowed just a single shot on frame.

UTD returns to action this weekend with a pair of games in Conway, Ark., in a classic hosted by Hendrix. The Comets will face Rhodes on Friday and host Hendrix Sunday.
