UTD Men Get Defensive in 66-54 ASC Road Win Over Lobos

ALPINE, TX (01.20.22) - Kameron Pruitt poured in a career-best 32 points as the UT Dallas men's basketball team turned a one-point halftime deficit into a 66-54 ASC road win over Sul Ross State Thursday night.

Pruitt was 12-for-18 from the field and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line while posting his sixth 'double-double' of the season with a 10-rebound performance.

Down 25-24 at the break, the Comets went 5-for-10 from three-point range in the second half while limiting host SRSU to just two free throw attempts in the final 20 minutes of play. Pruitt was 5-for-9 from the floor and took advantage of his trips to the charity stripe, going 6-for-8 in the second half, as he propelled the Comets to the victory.

The Lobos scored the first four points of the second half to extend their lead to five points, 29-24, with just under 19 minutes to play before UTD began its charge. A Kolton Pruitt three-pointer would ignite an 8-0 run by the Comets over the next two minutes and UTD would extend its lead to double digits, 42-32, after a James Curtis lay up with 12:34 to play. The Comets would later use a 10-0 run to put the game away, leading by as many as 18 points, 52-34, just past the midway point of the half.

Luke Kiser also finished in double figures with 12 points while Kolton Pruitt added eight points. Curtis led the Comets with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Comets (10-4, 6-3 ASC) will continue its five-game road trip Saturday with a 3 p.m. ASC game at Howard Payne in Brownwood. Winners of four of its last five games, UTD currently sits fourth in the ASC standings with just over a month left in the regular season.
