BROWNWOOD, TX (01.22.22) - For the second straight game, UT Dallas women's basketball team turned a halftime deficit into an ASC road win as the Comets rallied for a 68-56 victory over Howard Payne Saturday afternoon.

Down 28-21 at the break, the Comets (9-3, 8-1 ASC) outscored HPU, 47-28, in the second half as they maintained their hold on second place in the ASC standings with eight league games left in the regular season.

The Comets used a 17-3 run in the second half, including a stretch of 12 straight points, to turn the tables on the host Yellow Jackets. Trailing 35-31 just past the midway point of the third period, UTD rolled off seven consecutive points to take a 38-35 advantage on a Alex Bowman three-pointer with 3:10 left in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets regained a four-point lead late in the period before UTD scored the five points in the final 10 seconds in the stanza, getting a pair of free throws from McKenzie Howard and a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Maxwell.

The Yellow Jackets (4-16, 2-11 ASC) got a three-pointer from Amanda Turpin on the possession of the fourth before UTD scored 12 straight to snag its first double-digit lead of the afternoon, 60-50, on a Kaylee Boykin lay up with 4:55 left to play. The Comets would not lead by less than seven points for the rest of the contest.
