MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. - The UT Dallas men's golf team is tied for fifth, as is sophomore
Andrew Chow after the first round at the prestigious Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort on Sunday.
The Comets fired a 287 (+3), tied for the sixth best score in program history. They trail leader #1 Illinois Wesleyan (-1) by four strokes, #3 Huntingdon, #4 Carnegie Mellon, #2 Emory and are tied with #5 Christopher Newport and #6 Piedmont. Out of the 24-team field, 15 are ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek Top 25.
Chow shot a 69 (-2) in the opening round, trailing leader Justin Chan of CMU by two strokes. Chow sank three birdies and made 14 pars.
Junior
Davis Archer shot an even par 71 and is tied for 19th, while sophomore
Cade Eldridge was one over with a 72, tying for 23rd. Freshman
Tyler Durden was +4 with a 75, tying for 66th after making five birdies on the back nine. Sophomore
Daniel Shofner is also tied for 66th with a 75.
The Comets will play in the second round of the 54-hole tournament Monday.
