ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament hopes stayed alive with a 3-1 win over McMurry at Wilford Moore Stadium Thursday night.
With one game left in the regular season, the Comets (7-5-4, 3-3-2 ASC) are in a three-way tied for fourth place. They could finish anywhere between fourth and seventh place depending on how Saturday's schedule shakes out. Only six teams make the tournament with the third and fourth place teams hosting quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, November 1.

Kane Kidwell put UTD on the board in the 10th minute on a penalty kick after a War Hawk (5-9-2, 3-5 ASC) handball. A throw-in in the 52nd minute led to
Alan Beaney finding assisting a rocket of a shot off of
Riley O'Donnell's left foot that found the upper left corner of the net. Junior defender
Kayson Marriott headed in corner kick from
Leo Castro in the 63rd minute to give the Comets a 3-0 advantage.
McMurry recorded its lone goal in the 76th minute when Ahmad Alhendi headed the ball in off the post from a Bryan Rios corner kick.
For the game, the War Hawks outshot the Comets 7-6 with both teams taking three shots on goal. McMurry also led 5-3 in corners and both teams committed eight fouls.
UT Dallas Notes
- Kidwell is now 2-for-2 in penalty kicks this season. He netted his sixth goal of the year and ninth of his career.
- O'Donnell came up with his 20th career goal and fourth career game-winner.
- Beaney's assist was the first of the season and second of his career.
- Marriott scored for the fourth time this year on Castro's third assist.
