UTD's 2022 Campaign Ends in ASC Semifinals

AUSTIN, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer season ended with a 5-1 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament at Lewis-Chen Family Field Thursday. 

The top-seeded Cru (12-2-2) got out to a 3-0 lead with Patrick Roach hit a penalty kick in the 14th minute, then assisted goals from Karsen Macias and Ethan Dacaret in the 15th and 30th minute, respectively. Dacaret scored again in the 58th minute with an assist from Summer Young.

The Comets (9-6-4) got on the board when junior forward Brandon Buchanan scored his fifth goal of the year on a pass from junior midfielder Leo Castro in the 73rd minute. UMHB added another score from Francisco Maldonado in the 78th minute.

The game was the final in the career for senior Alejandro Suarez.

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets finish the season with their 25th consecutive winning season, spanning the entire length of the varsity program.
- Buchanan scored four goals in the last three games.
- Castro finished the season with a team-lead five assists.
- Freshman Arman Massoudi and Buchanan each took two shots on goal.
- Kayson Marriott, Riley O'Donnell, Kane Kidwell, Castro, Cole Morgan and Hamza Syed recorded a shot on goal a piece.

Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Keeper Dalton Lloyd came up with eight saves.
- Maldanado took four shots on goal, while Dacaret had three.
- Nick Villanueva had two shots on goal.
- The Cru move on to Saturday' ASC Championship Finals.
