RICHARDSON, TX (02.18.22) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team returned to action Friday with a 7-0 home loss to NCAA Division II opponent Harding.
The Comets (1-1) played tight in two of its three doubles matches against Harding. UTD had its best showing at the No. 1 spot in doubles action as the duo of
Ashwin Vaithianathan and
John Edwards upended Bisons Alvaro de Lorenzo and Morgan Sullivan, 7-6.
Nick Boquet and
Carlos De Leon dropped a close 6-4 match at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, De Leon nearly pulled off the upset at No. 6. After dropping the first set 6-3, De Leon pushed Axel Le Ho in the second set before falling 7-5 in the second set. Vaithianathan nearly snagged a set at No. 1 singles, dropping a 7-5 decision to Dani Oritz in the first set.
The Comets return to action Sunday when they host NCAA D-I foe Oral Roberts at 2:30 p.m.
