RICHARDSON, TX (02.27.22) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team got back in the win column in a big way on Sunday afternoon, downing St. Thomas 8-1 at the UTD Tennis Courts.
 
John Edwards and Ashwin Vaithianathan got things started for UTD securing a 8-1 victory over Tyler Head and Juanrodrigo Lopez. Carlos De Leon and Ritvik Ganesan would put the Comets in front 2-0 with an 8-1 win over Jace Ware and Jeremiah Hoover and UTD would not look back. UTD received a win due to a forfeit at the third spot to extend the lead in the match, 3-0.
 
Mario Dominguez opened singles play with a 6-0,6-0 win over Jason Clark in the five spot before Ritvik Ganesan cruised to a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 4 to secure the team victory for UTD.

Vaithianathan picked up a win over Juanrodrigo Lopez at the top singles position, 6-4, 6-3, and Edwards (6-1, 6-2) added a straight-set win at No. 2 singles. The sixth position resulted in a forfeit which secured a 8-1 victory over St. Thomas for the Comets.
 
The Comets continue their non-conference slate as they return to action Saturday at McMurry University. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in Abilene.
